Richard Sala and his wife Melanie of 22 years have two kids in the Hopkinton schools and his wife works for the schools. Richard is retired from the Marine Corps. He was an Assistant Professor of Law and Assistant Director of Academic Success at Vermont Law School. In 2021, he was appointed to the New Hampshire State Board of Education by Governor Chris Sununu and he served on the State Board until December 2023. He is currently the Director of the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation for New Hampshire.
Richard enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1997. In November 1998, following his tour in Guantanamo Bay, he joined 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines and deployed as a member of Battalion Landing Team 2/6 with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) aboard the USS Wasp, participating in Operation Dynamic Response in support of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s Kosovo Force.
In 2001, Richard was selected for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) program. While awaiting orders to BOOST, he joined 6th Marines Regimental Headquarters and served as the 6th Marines Assistant Operations Chief. In June 2002, he reported to Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island, to attend the BOOST program.
After completing BOOST, Richard joined the University of Colorado, Boulder's Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Unit and was subsequently promoted to Staff Sergeant. Richard graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, a minor in Italian, and a Certificate in Central and Eastern European History. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2007.
After commissioning, Richard reported to The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, Virginia. After TBS, he attended Infantry Officer’s Course and Light Armored Vehicle Leader’s Course. He then reported for duty as Platoon Commander, 3rd Platoon, Company C, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (1st LAR Bn) and served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 08-2.
After returning from OIF, Richard served as Company Executive Officer, Company C, 1st LAR Bn. In 2010, Richard was selected to become a Judge Advocate via the Excess Leave Program. He was promoted to Captain in July 2011 and graduated from Vermont Law School (VLS) in May 2013, earning a Master’s in Environmental Law and Policy, Magna Cum Laude, and a Juris Doctor, Cum Laude.
Upon graduating from VLS, Richard attended the Naval Justice School before proceeding to Camp Pendleton, California, to serve as Trial Counsel for Legal Team Echo and Officer-in-Charge for Legal Team Delta. In February 2015, he joined 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, as the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Judge Advocate supporting Marine Rotational Force-Darwin (Australia), 3rd Marine Division.
After his deployment with Marine Rotational Force-Darwin, Richard joined the Office of the Staff Judge (OSJ) Advocate, 1st Marine Division. While with the OSJ, he served as Assistant Deputy Staff Judge Advocate to the Commanding General of First Marine Division.
In June 2016, Richard was selected as a Marine Officer Instructor (MOI) and assigned to the NROTC unit at the University of Rochester. He was promoted to Major in July 2017. While serving as MOI, Richard earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School.
Richard retired from the Marine Corps in August 2018. From August 2018 to August 2019, he served as Counsel to the New Hampshire Education Department Commissioner. In August 2019, he joined the Vermont Law School faculty as an Assistant Professor of Law and Assistant Director of Academic Success. Richard subsequently served as the Director of Academic Success and completed his time with VLS as a Professor of Law and Director of Online Programs.

In October of 2023, Chris was promoted to the role of Business Supervisor in the State Budget Office. In this role he is responsible for providing advice and direction to 13 agencies to ensure proper financial and management practices are adhered to. He establishes, evaluates and approves procedures for budget submission. He reviews and advises the Governor's office on the validity of budget requests and evaluates the financial operations of agencies to insure compliance with laws, rules and generally accepted accounting principles.

Loren Clement and his wife Holly moved to Tooky in 2008 but his ties to Hopkinton go back generations. He has four kids who attend the Hopkinton schools and his wife works for the schools.
After 13 years of running his own business his client, Davis and Towle Insurance Group, offered him a position as their property manager. Loren is responsible for all aspects of managing the properties including construction and renovations, generators, roofs, asphalt, HVAC, furnaces, plumbing and electrical, inspections, landscaping/lawn care, fire and security and the list goes on. Over the past couple of years, we have found Loren at almost every school board meeting, most select board meetings and many budget committee meetings. Loren has a unique ability to personally connect with residents and listens to what they have to say.

Brian Rousseau and his wife, Lisa, are longtime residents of Hopkinton and raised their two children (now in their 20’s) in the Hopkinton Schools. Brian has extensive leadership and community service experience that he will bring to the Select Board. With a talent stack spanning more than two decades that includes expertise in IT project management, emergency medical services (EMS), and community engagement, Brian is dedicated to fostering Hopkinton's growth while preserving its unique character.
In his professional career, Brian has excelled as a Project Manager, Certified Scrum Master, and IT professional. He has also worked with security systems at various U.S. Embassy's in other countries demonstrating expertise in strategic planning, team leadership, and problem-solving. He is a Pro Board-certified Fire and EMS instructor through the New Hampshire Fire Academy. His background as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and firefighter underscores his unwavering commitment to public safety and community well-being.
Community Service:
* As a board member and former president of Hopkinton Youth Sports Association (HYSA), Brian worked to ensure safe and fair sporting opportunities for the town’s youth.
* He also served on the Board of Advisors for the Concord Regional Technical Center (CRTC) at Concord High School, a vocational program designed to prepare students for skills-based careers such as EMT or firefighter. Over those four years, Brian contributed as both a board advisor and adjunct instructor, guiding students toward success in these essential fields.
* For eight years, Brian was certified with the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) while volunteering as a ski instructor with the Waterville Valley Adaptive Ski Program.
Brian’s vision for Hopkinton centers on enhancing town infrastructure, supporting local services, and promoting transparent governance. His proven track record of collaboration, innovative thinking, ability to implement plans and see them through, positions him as the best candidate to help effectively address the challenges facing our community.
