John is once again running for the State House of Representative seat he held in the 2015-16 session. At that time, he sat on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee and served as the Republican Whip. He has been a Bow resident for 24 years, living with his wife Carol. He retired from the NH Department of Corrections as a Corrections Unit Manager after 21 years and retired from the US Army and USAR as a First Sergeant after 29 years. His service included Vietnam, Central America, Blizzard of ‘78, Kenya, and the Mexican Border. He is a disabled veteran.
His primary interest is maintaining low taxes. He will not and has never supported a sales or income tax. He was the author of a petition warrant at town meeting that resulted in a $4,000 tax credit for 100% Disabled Veterans. His legislative agenda is simple. He will sponsor legislation to give seniors State Property Tax credit under a simple formula:
Age 65 – 25% credit
Age 70 – 50% credit
Age 75 – 75% credit
Age 80 – 100% credit
This would be with the proviso that cities and towns could grant the same credits.
He will also introduce legislation to authorize the basic veterans tax credit to $1000, and the 100$ disabled veteran credit to $6000. Included would be the proviso that the credit could be offered to any disabled veteran at the same percentage as their VA rating. He is happy to discuss his plans with anyone interested.

Matthew is a 21-year resident of Bow NH. Mr. Poulin has four children with his wife Emily. All four children attended the Bow schools. Mr. Poulin began his involvement in Bow town affairs as a member of the CIP committee in 2016. He continued supporting the community in 2018 when he ran for Selectman. He was successfully elected and remained a member of the Select Board for six years. Matt's many accomplishments as a selectman included a level or negative town budget and settling the powerplant abatement lawsuit. Settling this lawsuit relieved Bow town residents of a seemingly endless legal cost. Mr. Poulin was a key player in getting the much-needed cell tower project approved and continued the negotiations regarding the Bow Junction water dispute with the city of Concord. Matthew Poulin is a fiscal conservative, and he is focused on New Hampshire values including keeping our state free from a sales tax! Contact Matt at:
